We need to talk about Céline Summer 2014. Specifically, this coat:
According to the Céline website, this coat is technically referred to as the “Black Chintzed Technical Viscose Coat with Brass Eyelets.” That’s a mouthful, so I will henceforth refer to this coat as “Peek-a-Boob.”
The main design feature of this coat is two giant riveted holes that allow the wearer to start every conversation with “My eyes are up here, buddy!”
What’s the over/under on Forever 21 selling a knockoff?
I have very definite feelings about who I think could wear this coat without the coat wearing them:
1. Anna Dello Russo (seen here in pumps from the Spring 2013 collection)
2. Iris Apfel
3. Grace Coddington
The reason these ladies could pull it off? I have a feeling they would style it in a way that it wouldn’t be about what was being exposed (boobs) but about what is being covered (a fabulous top). Each has a personal style with such a clear point of view, they would be wearing the coat, instead of vice versa.
How do you feel about the “Peek-a-Boob?” Is it the ultimate feminist fashion statement? A bit of haute couture for daily life? Just plain silly? Let me know in the comments!
